Youth in Construction is an initiative by the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb), the SA Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC), the SA Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), the Gauteng Master Builders Association (GMBA) and FET Colleges in support of the National Construction Week of the Department of Public Works to give young people in Gauteng the opportunity to experience a wide range of exciting opportunities in construction.
The Youth in Construction event focuses on the importance of the construction industry as a national asset and its critical link to skills development, infrastructure creation and service delivery.
Youth in Construction offers construction stakeholders across the industry spectrum, the opportunity to show young learners the best that the industry can offer in skills and opportunities and offers the opportunity to showcase the industry diversity under one roof.
The Construction industry offers exciting career paths with place for everybody!
The 2008 Youth in Construction event was held at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown Johannesburg from 8 to 12 September 2008. Approximately 4000 learners visited this exhibition.
